I'm Alive!

Am on mission in the Isle of Man with Share Jesus. Staying in a church in Douglas which is the capital of the island. It is an amzing place, loads of green fields and open countryside. On the Sunday hubby and I were having lunch at someones house and they took us on a tour of the island and showed us a place they used to film bits of Waking Ned and Keeping Mum. Very Exciting!!!

Working with a lovely team of 10 others . Today we are off to one of the local high schools and are running some of their RE lessons. Looking forward to it.....

More changes!!

So i woke up Monday morning feeling good. I had had a lovely weekend and realised just how happy I was at the moment in my new job and with my Hubby. Monday didnt turn out quite like I would have liked when after I had finished feeding a kid at lunchtime the headmistress of the school asked me to come into her office. I suddenly felt quite apprehensive as I hadnt had much to do with her during my first half term here. She asked me how I was finding the job and I replied just how happy I was but realised I still had a lot to learn. She then said 'well then, what Im about to say may come a a shock to you', and man did my heart skip a beat!!! I thought I was going to be sacked! She then explained that she was not happy with how I was doing and that after half term I was going to be moving to the work with the senior kids. I was gobsmaked. She didnt really expand on the 'Im not happy with you' bit so I said my goodbye's and left.

I found myself very tearful and rang my hubb y straight away to tell him the good news. After the school day had finished I asked to speak to the class teacher I had been working with to ask why I was moving. I needed to know whether she had requested it or hadnt had much say in it. Much to my relief it was not her idea!!!

So I went home that night feeling a little shakey but a lot calmer. Later in the evening a friend I would consider to be one of my best friends rang and said some stuff to me that was frankly none of her business and very upsetting. So I spent so much of Monday crying it felt horrible!!!

Thankfully though the week has got considerably better. I now feel a lot calmer about working with the seniors as I have met most of the team I will be working with and they all seem lovely. Plus today the school broke up for half term!!! Woo HOO!!! Seems so strangte to have a break in the job so early as I have only been there 7 weeks but having previously only worked in office jobs with a max of 4 weeks holiday, school holidays are fantastic!!!

Plus tomorrow I am going on holiday!!!! YAY YAY YAY!! Well I suppose it's kind of a busmans holiuday really as I am going on a Share Jesus mission in the Isle of Man called IM ALIVE. I am the pastor of the youth team and am feeling quite apprehensive about my role really as I have not done this kind of thing before!! I will let you know how I get on.......

I realised the other day that this is the first job I have ever had where I have really had to work!!! And yet the irony is that Im getting paid what feels like pittance for it, whereas my last job I was not working nearly as hard but paid almost half as much again!!
Yesterday was the most shattering day at work ever, took some of the kids to swimming lesson in the school in the morning which involved heping them all to undress and get dressed and then obviously drying them down and dressing them again. Somehow in the process the boys managed to get their clothes all mixed up, resaulting in the biggest lad in the class going home is trousers that were about 4inches too short and ever so slightly too tight for him!! All the clothes were thankfully returned to the right kids this morning!!! After swimming I had to get the kids changed (again) for gym and then later took two of the more physically disabled kids to the soft play room where they have the chance to get out of their wheelchairs and play in the room with no chance of harming themselves. One of the kids has always refused for her physio to lie down or stretch her legs but yesterday in soft play she did it (with a little encouragement at first!!) and then even volutarilly did it again!! Was so proud of her!!

Thursday is my Music day. In the morning I help out with the African drumming class which is comprised of some of the older primary students and some seniors, maybe 8 kids in all. Then Thursday avo is Creative where the kids get the chance to do things like Drama, Music, Gardening or Art in mixed age groups with deifferent teachers than they might have normally. So Im in the Music group and we are helping our kids learn about Manchester and all the different cultures and religions that live in this city!

After being at the achool 6 weeks I finally got my induction folder yesterday which gave details of what to expect in the job, members of staff names and all the forms that you might need to get through the year!! A bit of bedtime reading perhaps!!???

Just found out a close friend has got cancer. Feeling very upset about this, though knowing her I know she will fight it out of her system quite quickly.

I previously had a blog but found that it was becoming increasingly depressing and no one was ever reading it so thought I would start afresh

I have recently started a new job, working as a teaching assistant at a special needs school nearby and figured I would be able to use this blog to tell funny stories about my job and get things off my chest!!!

I am 24 and happily married to a wonderful man. My Christian faith is very important to me and this picture is of the cross at my church.

I help to run the sunday night Youth Fellowship of 13 - 18ish year olds. All nutters obviously but I love them dearly.

I love all things fun: Friends, Doctor who (ahh David Tennant), my Music (I studies music at Uni....hmmm somewhat briefly but I did; and my family whom I love dearly!! I have recently become a big fan of The Sims 2 PC game (any hints would be much appreciated). Ys I know it may be a saddo game but it helps me relax!!! Im afraid I enjoy my soaps, Neighbours (yes please dont moan), Holyoaks and Eastenders. I dont watch Corrie, though feel obliged to keep a vague tabs on it as my Dad works regularly on the programme.

I have recently started on a wheat free diet to help my IBS. I was a big fan of all things breadlike and all things italian (pasta, pizza etc) which are all now no go areas. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can try to eat instead it would be much appreciated.
